Dear Constituents of Andrew Bridgen MP,

We are writing to you as a group of medical doctors and scientists concerned with public health and the welfare of our society. We are united by our shared interest in ensuring that our government’s response to health crises is transparent, accountable, and underpinned by scientific evidence.

We wish to express our support for your Member of Parliament, Andrew Bridgen. As healthcare professionals, we have been closely following the ongoing discourse around the government’s response to the COVID pandemic. It has come to our attention that Mr. Bridgen has been posing critical questions regarding the government’s policy, many of which mirror our own concerns.

Mr. Bridgen has bravely challenged the status quo, raising important issues in relation to the regulatory capture of institutions that are meant to safeguard us. His inquiries into potential influences exerted by powerful organisations are not just legitimate, but absolutely necessary in a democratic society. It is through such scrutiny that we can ensure our health institutions remain impartial and effective.

Furthermore, his questions relating to unexpectedly high all-cause death rates over the last two years, need to be seriously considered and thoroughly investigated. As medical professionals, we affirm that investigating all possible causes of such a trend is essential, in order to implement any necessary changes in policy and practice.

Regrettably, instead of being applauded for his diligence and commitment to public service, Mr. Bridgen has been made a scapegoat. We believe this is unjust and detrimental to the democratic process. We all benefit from having a variety of voices and perspectives in Parliament, particularly when it comes to matters of public health.

As doctors and scientists, we are dedicated to the health of our patients, the pursuit of truth in our research, and the broader wellbeing of our community. We believe that by supporting leaders who seek truth, transparency, and accountability, we are helping to foster a society that values evidence-based decision-making, respects scientific insights, and prioritises public health. It is crucial for the health of our democracy and for the welfare of us all, that MPs like Mr. Bridgen continue to challenge government policy and pose the difficult questions that need to be asked.

We thank you for your time and consideration and respectfully ask you, his constituents, to consider the points laid out in this letter when deciding how to vote in a forthcoming election.  We would encourage you to support Mr. Bridgen, as he continues to represent your interests.

Sincerely,

Dr Timothy Kelly, MBBCh, BSc, DfPUK committee member
